Webquest

1. Title: Eat it up!
2. Introduction: Many people believe that the only way to eat well in Britain is to eat breakfast three times a day. And, let’s be honest, when someone says ‘typical British food’, most people think of fish and chips, boring sandwiches, roast beef on Sundays and greasy sausages. However, you have to demonstrate that things have changed…
You are the cooks chosen by a Cooking Show to participate in a competion to prepare the best English dish.
3. The task: You have to write the recipe of your favourite English dish finding out the instructions and the ingredients on the Internet. In addition you will illustrate your recipes with pictures, drawings of the tasty dish and / or a video showing the whole process of making the dish.
4. Process:● Roles:- You have to work in pairs: one is the chef and the other is the kitchen assistant.
- There is also a person in charge of decorating the kitchen walls with the recipes of the cooks.
● Steps:- In the kitchen:1. Each pair chooses one of these the dishes: roast beef, pancake, apple crumble, lemon pudding or beans.2. Decide who the chef is, who the kitchen assistant is and who the decorator is.
- In the computer room:3. The chefs have to look for the instructions of the recipe.
4. The kitchen assistants have to look for the ingredients and the pictures of the dish.
5. Each pair of cooks has to search different websites to find the following information about the famous English dish to write their own recipe:
  • The list of ingredients.
  • Clear instructions to cook your dish (from 5 to 10).
  • References to the cooking equipment.
  • The timing of some of the instructions.
- Back in the kitchen:
4. Each pair of cooks uses the information obtained in the websites to write their own recipes. You can follow the model below. The vocabulary and the grammar of the unit will be very helpful. Try to do it in an original way!!!
5. The chef will write the recipe on one side of a sheet and the kitchen assistant will write the ingredients on the other side. The kitchen assistant will also do a drawing or stick a picture of the dish in the same side of the sheet he has written the ingredients.
